[Entropy] Newsletter, December 2004

Dear All,
Welcome once more to the Entropy news letter. If you're
receiving this letter it's because this email address has been
subscribed to the Entropy Announce list. If you did not
subscribe, or wish to unsubscribe, please email
jim.grimmett@curiosity-shoppe.com and Jim will remove you
from the list.

ENTROPY THIS MONTH

This month regulars Jim and Ruth are joined by Ali*, electro DJ
extraodinaire and member of Bristol band Goteki. Ali is known for his
love of 80s electro pop and 80s cheese. Ruth and Jim will be supplying
Entropy's usual dose of EBM, Industrial, Indie and dance tunes for the
rest of the night.

Full details of this month's Entropy, including maps of
where the Porter Butt is can be found on our website:

http://www.entropybath.co.uk

ENTROPY LAST MONTH

Last month we changed the format a little with the DJs playing in
hour-long slots, This month we're back to 30 minute slots per DJ. We
changed to give our special guest DJ Beanz a little more, uninterrupted
time at the decks.

Local DJ Juamei kicked us off with an hour of Noise and Industrial
tunes. The rest of the night was split between regular Michael and our
guest DJ Beanz. After the high turnout last month, I expected less
people to show and the cold, wet weather didn't help our cause. We
still had over 60 people in the venue by 11pm and the dancefloor
stayed fairly full from then on.

OTHER NEWS THIS MONTH

* Entropy in 2005.

Over the last year we tried to keep Entropy on the same weekend of
every month so that people would get used to it and (hopefully) know
when it was. When picking a weekend we tried hard to avoid all of the
other alternative nights locally and even left the first Saturday of
every month free - just in case Exile decided to keep going in Bath.

Well, as some of you know, we still managed to clash with some nights
and Exile is not coming back regularly. We've also noticed that people
still have problems remember exactly when the third Saturday of the
month is! So, as of next year Entropy will be moving to the FIRST
SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH. Every month except one, January.
The first Saturday of January is New Year's Day and we really didn't think
many people would make it out. That means there will be no Entropy in
January and the first Entropy of 2005 will be on Saturday, 5th Feburary.

You may have seen Jim and a few others in Bath wandering around with
black, Entropy T-shirts on. These have all of the 2005 dates on the
back and are avaialble for only £18 each (and believe it or not that's pretty
much cost). If more than ten people want Ts we can get them done cheaper.

The dates for next year are as follows:

5th February
5th March
2nd April
7th May
4th June
2nd July
6th August
3rd September
1st October
5th November
3rd December

We hope to see some of you there.

* Alt-Bath Scene Forums

Liam (of Discord fame) has set up a new web site for us Bathonians to
play with. You can find the new Alt-Bath Scene Forums here:

http://www.altbathscene.co.uk

There are forums for most of the alternative nights in Bath, music,
bands, gigs and general news. Head over there and see what you think!

* SubSpecies and Start The Machines to merge.

Last month saw the last SubSpecies in Bristol. In the new year they
will be teaming up with Start The Machines and doing a new club called
Sub-Machines. They'll be playing the best from both clubs so expect a
monthly dose of Dark, Gothic and Industrial tunes but "no bleepy,
cheesy tunes". Sub-Machines will start in January 2005 and will run on
the fourth Friday of every month.

* The Last Dark Trix.

One of the longest running alternative nights in the South is closing
its doors in December. After four years, Jim has decided to give
someone else a chance to run an alternative night in Basingstoke and
will be moving on to other things. If you've ever been and want to
help Jim make it the biggest Dark Trix ever, or wanted to go but never
found the time then Saturday 11th December is your last chance.
